Wednesday turned out to be a good day for Australia’s badminton stars. Anthony Joe’s talents were on full display in his match against M Bhatti of Pakistan. Anthony displayed great grit and determination to take the match 22-20, 21-18, and wooed the Aussie fans in the stadium. Anthony takes on HS Prannoy from India on Thursday.

The winning form continued for local Queensland girl Hsuan-Yu Wendy Chen who easily took care of her Faulkland Islands opponent. Wendy is in for the match of her life tomorrow when she takes on No 1 seed and Olympic Silver medallist PV Sindhu from India.

Ladies Doubles pair and No 1 seeds Setyana Mapassa and Gronya Somerville start their ladies doubles campaign tomorrow. They take on Alissa Dean and Danielle Whiteside from Fiji.

Matt Chau and Sawan Serasinghe are back on court tomorrow taking on Singapore pair Chrisnanta and Hee.
